Thing To Do Spain

Our top recommendations whilst visiting the Villa. There is a huge range of activities to do, but these are just some of our favourite.

Picture is Tabernas Village square

Mini Hollywood

There are lots of Western villages / film sets to visit in the rea but this one has to be our favourite, as voted by our 8 and 9 year old, Walk through the Western village, watch the various shows, then spend time in the zoo or water park, the theme park is around 5/10 minutes drive from the Villa. For tickets and opening times visit MiniHollywood western theme park.

Route 66

Turn right out  of the Villa and up the road is the fabulous Route 66. Each Sunday at 2pm live entertainment is put on, ranging from acoustic artists to rock bands. Its best to call and reserve a seat for this. There are a few English speaking hosts so don't worry if your Spanish isn't up to scratch.

They serve American food and the props on show are very insta photo worthy.

Castillo De Tabernas

If you fancy a short walk with spectacular views and castle ruins to look around at the top, then Castillo De Tabernas is worth a visit.

Based in the village, you can see the castle from the Cactus garden in the villa and it is lit up beautifully at night.

It is free to look around and you can see were various movies have been filmed.

Horse Riding

Take a guided tour through the desert on horseback. You need zero skills for this as the horses are so friendly and well trained, with a super knowledgeable English speaking guide.

There are a number of booking platforms you can use, simply search 'Tabernas horse riding'.

The Beaches

If you fancy a beach in which you can relax and then take in the city San Miguel beach in Almeria is perfect and around 30 minutes away.

For cool beach bars, restaurants and trendy vibes we recommend Mojacar. It is around 45/50 minutes away but well worth the drive.

Hiking

There are many routes to take, but one of our favourite views is at Europe's mainland's highest telescope observatory: Calar Alto.

Even if you don't fancy a full hike there are lots of places to drive to along the way up.

Cathedral de Almeria

Almeria Cathedral is a beautiful example of stunning architecture, beautifully preserved.

It is perfect if you fancy getting out of the mid day sun and you can then explore the various Tapas restaurants close by.

Parque de Las Familias

One for the children, this huge park is well worth a visit with so many different areas to explore. It is free to enjoy and there is cute café within the grounds to grab a bite to eat.
